Get to Know Me

When I enrolled in the business program at CSUMB, I had big ideas, but was still unsure of the next step in my career. I had spent years in school, building multiple facets of my business, but nothing had come together quite yet. As I began my coursework, I began to find structure within what I was growing, as well as being able to apply my studies to my work as a marketing professional.

As a professional embedded in the wellness industry for over five years, I gained experience growing and operating fitness brands, as well as building in-person communities through teaching Pilates. I launched my freelance marketing business in January of 2026, and my wellness & movement event business with my best friend, April of 2026.

Through building my businesses, I have accomplished a lot so far this year. I have built a waitlist of about 250 people for a new studio's launch, secured my first retainer client, and reached 30% capacity for my first event the night we launched tickets.

My business curriculum at CSUMB has lent nicely to the growth of my business. I have learned to present clearly in front of large audiences, how to problem solve with initiative, and communicate with others collaboratively. I have enjoyed taking classes like Principles of Marketing and Principles of Management. I have gained opportunities to build real skills that I end up using within my industry right now.

In the future, my ideas remain big. I would like to focus this year on providing value for my current clients and marketing myself to grow my network and hopefully secure at least two more retainered clients by the end of 2027.

My big dream would be to begin a marketing & consulting firm that specializes in working with brands in the boutique fitness industry. I know these businesses inside and out and have worked in every facet of running and marketing a studio. I enjoy supporting founders in their launch period and hope to tailor my expertise to that market.

I also see a big future with my event company. As a Pilates instructor, I have built a strong community within Santa Cruz, and I am excited to bring it to fruition outside of a studio environment. Our mission is to support people in building their wellness network through highlighting local wellness-focused businesses. We have three specific offerings: the practice, the table, and in good company. The practice focuses on wellness rituals like yoga and fitness pop-ups.  The table includes workshops, panels, and skill-shares meant for people looking to grow their businesses or explore continued learning. We focus on how good things come when everyone has a seat at the table. Lastly, in good company is the thread we weave throughout every event, intentional connection as the heart of everything we do.

My soft skills that support my goals include strong communication and collaboration skills. On the technical side, I have experience in social media management, copywriting, email marketing, and other digital marketing practices that will directly support growing both of my businesses. I'm excited to continue growing my skillset through both classes at CSUMB and my current work with clients. I have nothing but excitement for the next chapter of my career and can't wait to host my first event this June.
